Mobile photography is chasing benchmarks.
Flare breaks the chain.
What’s wrong with stock cameras today? They are boring, clinical, and completely over-sharpened. They rely on computational guesswork and hard digital clipping that strips the soul out of a moment.
Flare is built differently. By processing uncompressed YUV sensor data through an OpenGL-accelerated pipeline, we simulate actual analog physics. It’s an anti-clinical digital darkroom that preserves natural luminance and gives you authentic, honest images straight out of the camera.

What Photographers Are Saying
“Finally an app that processes highlights like actual film instead of just slapping a cheap blue filter over a JPEG. The custom recipe codes are brilliant.”
— Reddit User (r/Android)
“Replaced my default camera. The Superia 400 simulation is the closest I’ve seen a phone get to a Fujifilm X100V. The lack of ads is a huge plus.”

Frequently Asked Questions
How do the shareable recipe codes work?
Every time you tweak highlights, shadows, grain, and clarity in Flare, you can generate a 15-character Base36 code. Just paste a friend’s code into your app, and your viewfinder instantly updates to match their exact look.
Is this just applying a filter over my photo?
No. Flare accesses the uncompressed YUV data from your phone’s sensor before standard compression ruins it. It processes light using OpenGL shaders, mimicking the soft highlight roll-off and luminance curves of physical film.
Does Flare support all my phone’s lenses?
Basic capture works across devices, and we are currently working on the next phase of our roadmap, which introduces dedicated UI logic for 0.5x, 1x, and 3x hardware lenses where available.
